Glen Josselsohn
Glen Josselsohn was born in Johannesburg in 1971 and where he currently lives and works. Mentored by his mother, artist Gail Josselsohn, Glen enjoyed painting from an early age, with his mother as a constant source of inspiration. He has studied computer graphics and completed many courses in photography but Glen’s passion has always remained art.
With a distinctively contemporary style, Glen paints on Fabriano paper using silk dye, ink and a paint compound. “I have a strong affinity for the modernists – Miro, Pollock, Mondrian – they’ve all had a major influence on my work.” He has also drawn inspiration from African art and from the textures and colours of natural materials, like clay and stone.
His series of black and white figures, created using a drip technique to give a relief, almost three-dimensional effect, have been well received. Several of these pieces have made their way as far afield as Paris. Glen has now turned his attention to large canvases, as an alternative to paper, and is looking forward to experimenting with the drip technique on a new scale.
